LKQ Corporation
When international retailer of recycled and remanufactured original equipment automotive parts, LKQ Corporation needed a new warehouse and distribution facility at their Leominster, MA location, they chose the proven partnership of Bennett Building Corp. and industry leader, Butler Steel Buildings. This 35,000-square-foot facility is designed to maximize storage. It is almost 50 feet in height, with interior racking systems that store products to 40 feet. In addition to storage heights at more than double the average, this facility also incorporates the use of VNAs (very narrow aisles), which require the use of specialized materials handling equipment. This type of equipment moves through the building’s racking systems using wire-guided technology embedded in the building’s floor. The installation of such high-racking systems demanded the building floor be placed to meet exacting “super-flat” tolerances.
